A mother with the heart
Full of love
I stood at my mother's grave holding roses in my hands. A soft breeze had caused the grass to sway and birds chirped in a melody. The tombstone was covered in dirt and little flowers my daughter had placed a year ago. I placed the roses in the little vase, filling it up with water. In my right pocket I pulled out scissors; I started cutting off the long strands of grass. I slowly got up and sighed. "Happy birthday mother" I sat on a bench pulling out whiskey from my jacket pocket. Her grave shined brightly as if God had blessed it. I remember the last time I saw my mother; was only but a teenager who worried for his mother. I had reasons to be, she had dealt with many things, even I myself had cried from hearing it. Here lies the mother who never got to tell her story. The story that I will tell so she can rest in peace.

    As I was going through adding flat color to the lineart MissDidichan helped me with, I ended up fixated on this one, since I had already shaded the sketch enough to where I didn't have to do too much else to it....except for when I decided it would be fun to make a background. Again, it's another one of those poses that makes better sense in context. I still don't think I got the shadows quite right, but it's still primarily a colored sketch, since I used both the lineart and the sketch.

    Anyhow...gonna go out on a limb and say I like this one. Always liked the sketch too. :3
